2008 IN REVIEW
If you are reading this you are probably checking us out to see if we are legit. Well what can we say? We invaded WNS in January of 2008 with one simple goal in mind - be better than last year. The year started off with inventory check of over 5,000 items in the shop in to a main POS database. February we brought life in to the almost dead Roanoke Boat Show with The Mastercraft Rail Jam. Procceeded to blow it up online and build this site - we did almost 250 orders our first year, respectable but not enough. With a year 40% down for most wake shops we increased by 20%. Our wake team and roots run deep in to North Carolina down to Florida. Check out the Wake N Skate Team page. Our annual wake photo shoot in May turned out some good footy yet to be revealed. Lee Wagner and Brian Reeder competed and placed 2nd in the BroStock Team Challenge at Lake Powell. Gerner and Gaudio made it out to show full support. July 4th Weekend we pulled off a rail jam at Lakewatch Plantation with some of the finest rails ever built at Smith Mountain Lake. BroStock Smith Mountain Lake was complete madness. August was the biggest month to date for Wake N Skate. September we started stocking 09 Hyperlite and CWB product! What? Check it Out! 

 

HISTORY
Wake N Skate Wakeboard Pro Shop opened in 2002 by Gary Ellis at Bridgewater Plaza on Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. Wake N Skate was one of four businesses Ellis owned at the time. Ellis was a former Coke executive and moved to Smith Mountain Lake to get away from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. In a few short years Wake N Skate produced a men's junior national champion Brian Reeder, one of the largest semi-pro wakeboard teams, a promenint east coast wake tournament and a profitable wakeboard business built on CWB and Liquid Force Wakeboards. Wake N Skate created more than a shop at Smith Mountain Lake but a scene and way of life.

For five of those years Ellis relied on his friend and ad agency owner Micah Gaudio to help with the promotions of the shop. Many times throughout those years Gaudio offered his services for free for the simple love of the sport. In January of 2008 Gaudio purchased the shop and made his intentions clear to be a dominant player in the online wakeboard industry.

Gaudio brought back long time shop employee Eric Gerner and named him General Manager of Wake N Skate. The new web site launched May 15th, 2008.
